Over the years, Lightsource Creations has had a history of being connected with philanthropy in many forms. From the outset we, as artists, realized the importance of being able to give back to the community in some way or another. Fundraisers using our artwork, such as with the airbrushed technical illustration of the first fire engine on the scene of the Oklahoma City bombing: Pumper No. 1, from station No.1 was a great success in raising funds for the City of Oklahoma to honor the victims of April 19th. 1995..

This airbrushed technical illustration was produced to help the Arizona wing of the Confederate Airforce to get this leviathan of a bygone age back into the air. In early summer of 1990 I was informed that the "SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY" B-17G belonging to the Confederate Airforce was in a bad way in Mesa AZ, and needed around $275,000.00 and many hours of work to get it back in flying condition. My first thought was, how can I help this aircraft, now looking so very sad in a hanger at Mesa Arizona. The wings were off, the engines scattered everywhere, and all four props where hanging on the walls. The idea was to illustrate it, produce lithographs, and sell them with the profits going back to the restoration. Having spent many hours with the "Sentimental Journey" in its hanger, and many more drawing and airbrushing, the illustration was finished and ready for print production. It was now coming up to Christmas of 1990, a real good time to start TV advertising. Channel 5 and 12 visited me in my studio for a couple of hours, giving us around 4 minutes on TV showing the people of Phoenix our needs. The response was fantastic. The "Sentimental Journey" is now back in flying condition giving an enormous amount of pleasure to a great many people all over the United States every year.

Torpedo Squadron 8, Battle of Midway, June 4th. 1942. USS HORNET. This airbrushed technical illustration was produced for the remaining pilots of Torpedo Squadron 8 who are leaving us at an alarming rate. The original illustration was donated to the squadron and will ultimately hang in the Naval Air-station Museum at Pensacola Florida. The Giclée prints of this illustration are 22x30, produced as everything else is from Lightsource Creations, on 100% acid free archival watercolor stock. A large portion of the profits still go to helping this WWII generation of Naval Flyers still with us to achieve the recognition and thanks they so richly deserve for generations to come.

An airbrushed technical illustration of the 1930 Mack, Emergancy Service Vehicle was produced and printed to raise funds for the Widows and Orphans Organization of NYPD. The original artwork was donated and now hangs on the honor wall of the Emergency Services Division, Brooklyn, New York.
Later, because of the success of the 1930 Mack prints we decided to do something for the victims of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Literally two days later we had posters and calendars created specifically to honor the FDNY Firefighters, NYPD, and Emergency Services personnel that lost their lives attempting to rescue the victims within the World Trade Center Twin Towers. Unfortunately, circumstances kept the fundraiser from going through. Instead, 1000 prints of our NYPD/Emergency Services posters were produced for the Widows and Orphans organization.

This airbrushed technical illustration of the USS Constitution frigate was produced in early 1997. We had read in the New York Times that the school children of Massachusetts had to do a penny drive in order to make a full compliment of sails for the USS Constitution bicentennial re-launch, October 23rd. 1997. They had only raised enough money for partial sails. Therefore, Lightsource Creations made lithographs to be sold for restoration purposes. Today these prints are still available and could realize a huge turnover if all are sold. To sell one lithograph to just 2% of the over 2 million visitors to the Constitution every year, @ $25.00 would realize proceeds of a million dollars. This means $500,000.00 could be a yearly contribution to the restoration of one of our most cherished historical landmarks.
